Hub Cricket Programme
The Khaya Majola Hub is Kei Cricket’s flagship grassroots development programme, dedicated to identifying and nurturing talent across rural former Transkei communities. It operates through six key centres—Nomandi JS (Nomandi), Mdeni JS (Tabase), Mqanduli Village (Mqanduli), Khaya Majola Oval (Mthatha), Old Bunting JS (Ngqeleni), and Dalubuhle JS (Payne)—each serving as a vital cricket access point within its community. With basic facilities such as practice slabs and nets, the centres draw players from surrounding schools and provide structured coaching pathways from Mini Cricket through to U19 boys’ and girls’ teams. The programme is led by a qualified coaching team, comprising a Head Coach and two assistants, supported by dedicated Hub coaches at Nomandi Primary and Khaya Majola Oval, while teacher-coaches play an important role in sustaining development across the remaining centres. Regular inter-centre fixtures, often hosted at Khaya Majola Oval, ensure consistent match exposure and player assessment. Despite operating within a single-hub funding model, the programme maximises its reach and impact through a collaborative and resourceful approach. The Khaya Majola Hub remains the cornerstone of Kei Cricket’s development pipeline, consistently producing players who progress to U13–U19 provincial teams, represent the region at CSA National Weeks, and advance into senior and professional cricket pathways.
