KFC Mini Cricket
Kei Cricket’s Mini Cricket Programme serves as the foundation of its player development pathway,
introducing young boys and girls to the game in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment. The programme is
implemented across key regions within the Kei footprint, including the OR Tambo, Alfred Nzo, Joe Gqabi ,Chris Hani East and
Amathole districts, ensuring wide-reaching access to the sport at grassroots level.
Delivered primarily through schools and supported by community structures, the programme focuses on
developing basic cricket skills, coordination, and teamwork, while instilling a lifelong love for the game.
Over 324 schools actively participate in the Mini Cricket Programme across the Kei region, supported by
more than 300 teachers who play a vital role as trained Mini Cricket coaches.
With over 16 149 Mini Cricket matches played in a single season, the programme provides young players
with regular opportunities to learn, play, and grow in a structured yet enjoyable environment. Emphasizing
participation and development over competition, Kei Cricket’s Mini Cricket Programme continues to
build a strong and sustainable pipeline of talent for the future of the game.
