Rural Cricket

The Kei Rural Men’s Team continues to demonstrate its growing strength and competitiveness at the
annual CSA Rural Coastal Week, a premier tournament featuring unions such as Boland, Border Aloes,
Border Country, Border Villages, Eastern Province (Grahamstown), Eastern Province (Midlands), Kei,
and South Western Districts (SWD).
The team’s progress is further highlighted by individual excellence, with one of Kei’s standout players
Loyiso Katywa earning selection to the South African Rural squad in both the 2023/24 and 2024/25
seasons. This achievement underscores the quality of talent emerging from the region and the
effectiveness of Kei Cricket’s development structures.
These milestones reflect Kei Cricket’s long-term vision: not only to remain competitive against leading
rural unions, but also to reclaim amateur status and continue strengthening a sustainable pathway of

excellence for rural cricket.
